Melanie is once again proud to be a part of Hard Rock’s Pinktober program by performing at their Women of Rock charity gala event at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 1 November 2009.
This year’s Pinktober program marks the 10-year anniversary of Hard Rock’s support in raising awareness and searching for a cure for breast cancer. In the UK, funds will be raised for the Caron Keating Foundation. Naturally, Melanie is pleased to add to her contribution of last year’s performance in Manchester and subsequent DVD release.
Tickets for the show go on sale on Friday September 11th at 9am at 0845 401 5031 or at www.RoyalAlbertHall.com
Melanie is thrilled to announce that she is to star as Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers at the West End’s Phoenix Theatre! She is due to start rehearsals next month and will make her debut performance on October 26th. Melanie says:
“I’m a great believer in fate and when the opportunity came along to audition for ‘Blood Brother’ I couldn’t resist. It’s such a well-loved show and has always been one of my favourites and the Liverpool connection just adds to the appeal. It’s a real honour to be asked to take on the role of Mrs Johnstone especially following in such great footsteps. I love a challenge and I think the discipline of theatre combined with the inspiration of Willy Russell’s writing will provide great preparation for my fifth solo album.”

At last you get to see my producer Poppy!…I took her to see Take That at Wembley after the show on Friday. We had an amazing night, the boys opened the show with ‘Greatest Day’, one of my favourite tracks, it was such a breathtaking moment and reminded me of my own days on tour. Melanie C came too and we all had a great time singing along with the crowd to all our favourites, old and new. Here we are enjoying ourselves X

Mel C rocks with baby

Spice Girl Melanie C seems to have taken to motherhood like a duck to water since having baby Scarlet. But don’t expect new solo music next year to be influenced by babies and heightened emotions. She told me at last week’s Hard Rock Calling event in Hyde Park (where we both watched Bruce Springsteen): “I’m a rock girl at heart and it’s not going to be an album full of ballads. It’ll be big rock numbers. I’m starting to write soon.”
But Melanie’s clearly taking it easy getting back into the industry. She reveals: “Becoming a mother is far more powerful than I ever realised it would be. I was never broody like the other Spices. Scarlet’s really enhanced my life but it’s been tricky at times. I wouldn’t want to be rushing to get back to work. So I’m taking lots of time off. It’s been four months and this is my first night out!” And Mel was exceedingly well behaved, peeps!

If you haven’t seen her live then I hear there may be an opportunity soon – she’ll perform for the first time since baby Scarlet at the end of October at a HUGE gig……but I can’t tell you more as details are still being finalised.
Grazie a Melanina C
